Medal Of Freedom Recipient John Hope Franklin Was A Member Of Alpha Phi Alpha
Did you know that John Hope Franklin was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha? Franklin pledged the Alpha Chi chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
John Hope Franklin was a historian and former president of Phi Beta Kappa, the Organization of American Historians, the American Historical Association, and the Southern Historical Association. He was born in Oklahoma, attended Fisk University, and then received his doctorate from Harvard.

Franklin became a professor at Howard University and in 1956 he was named to head the history department at Brooklyn College. In 1964 he relocated to Chicago where he led the university’s History Department as well as being appointed to a named chair.
