Gospel Artist Tasha Page-Lockhart Inducted as an Honorary Member of Sigma Gamma Rho

Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. has announced gospel singer and musician Tasha Page-Lockhart as one of its newest honorary members. Lockhart joins the “Essence of Sisterhood Honorary Membership Class,” a line recognizing women whose contributions exemplify the sorority’s mission of sisterhood, scholarship, and service.
Page-Lockhart first rose to national prominence as the season six winner of BET’s Sunday Best, a gospel singing competition that showcased her powerful voice and heartfelt artistry. Her victory earned her a recording contract with RCA Records and Kirk Franklin’s Fo Yo Soul Recordings, paving the way for her 2014 debut album Here Right Now. The album achieved success on the Billboard 200, reaching No. 87, and climbed to No. 3 on the Top Gospel Albums chart.
In the years since, Page-Lockhart has continued to make her mark on gospel music. Her work has earned critical acclaim, including nominations and wins at major award shows. At the 30th Stellar Awards, she was named New Artist of the Year. In 2019, she added to her accolades with wins for Contemporary Female Vocalist of the Year at the 34th Stellar Awards, Female Vocalist of the Year at the Steeple Awards, and Female Vocalist of the Year at the UK’s Gospel Touch Music Awards.
Page-Lockhart now joins an honorary membership line that includes basketball legend Sheryl Swoopes, policy leader Dr. Kimberlyn Leary, and writer and advocate Maui Bigelow — all women recognized for their excellence, leadership, and impact.
Through this induction, Sigma Gamma Rho celebrates Page-Lockhart’s ongoing contributions to the world of gospel music and the positive influence she brings to communities through her voice and platform.
We at Watch The Yard warmly welcome Tasha Page-Lockhart to Black Greekdom.
