Delta Sigma Theta’s Queen Latifah Named Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductee

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced Monday its latest class of inductees, with Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.’s very own Queen Latifah among those set to be honored.
Latifah will receive the Early Influence Award, a distinction recognizing artists whose work has had a lasting impact on music and culture. She joins a class that includes performers such as Phil Collins, Billy Idol, Iron Maiden, Joy Division/New Order, Oasis, Sade, Luther Vandross, and Wu-Tang Clan. Additional Early Influence honorees include Celia Cruz, Fela Kuti, MC Lyte (Sigma Gamma Rho), and Gram Parsons.
“Induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is music’s highest honor. We look forward to celebrating these remarkable artists at this year’s ceremony,” said John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
To be eligible for induction, artists must have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years prior to nomination.
Latifah’s recognition comes shortly after she was inducted as an honorary member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. during the sorority’s 57th National Convention in 2025.
We at Watch The Yard celebrate Queen Latifah on this latest honor and her continued impact on culture and music.
