Maui Bigelow Inducted as an Honorary Member of Sigma Gamma Rho

Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. has announced that Maui Bigelow, an influential writer, strategist, and advocate, has been inducted as an honorary member. Bigelow joins the “Essence of Sisterhood Honorary Membership Class,” which recognizes trailblazing women whose work reflects the sorority’s mission of sisterhood, scholarship, and service.
An alumna of Albany State University, Bigelow first discovered the power of her digital voice in 2008 and has since become a respected leader in community advocacy and media. As the creator of PHAT Girl Fresh, she blends feminism with fashion, beauty, and social culture, creating authentic spaces for progressive conversations. Through her writing and digital storytelling, Bigelow has championed equity and empowerment, building a dedicated following of more than 1.2 million across her social media platforms.

Bigelow’s influence extends beyond digital spaces. She is the founder and producer of Life Styled, an annual event that honors trailblazing women in fashion, entertainment, activism, and empowerment. Her work as a writer and editor has appeared in national publications including Essence, Revolt, MadameNoire, and HelloBeautiful.
In addition to her media presence, Bigelow has contributed to impactful, culturally relevant campaigns with 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) organizations and has collaborated with major brands like Lane Bryant, Eloquii, L’Oréal, and Carol’s Daughter. She also served as Communications Manager for the Breonna Taylor Foundation and is an active member of ForbesBLK, where she continues to advocate for meaningful change.
Bigelow joins a remarkable honorary membership line that includes basketball legend Sheryl Swoopes, Dr. Kimberlyn Leary, and gospel singer Tasha Page Lockhart, all women celebrated for their leadership, vision, and impact.
We at Watch The Yard warmly welcome Maui Bigelow to Black Greekdom.
