Washington DC Has a New Police Chief and He Is a Member of Kappa Alpha Psi
Washington DC has a new police chief and he’s a member of Kappa Alpha Psi.
On Saturday, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser held a ceremony where he swore in in the new Chief of DC Metropolitan Police, Robert J. Contee III.
Contee, a Spring 2018 initate of the Fort Washington (MD) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi, was sworn in to take Peter Newsham’s position as acting chief.

A DC native and a 31-year veteran of the MPD, Contee becoming a police cadet in 1989. He grew up in Carver Terrace community in Northeast, DC, and is a DC Public Schools graduate.
Contee holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Professional Studies with a concentration in Police Science from George Washington University. He has also completed the Management College at the Institute for Law Enforcement Administration and the Senior Management Institute for Police (SMIP) of the Police Executive Research Forum in Boston, Massachusetts.
