Brandy Becomes An Honorary AKA
Today the 35-year-old Grammy Award winning singer, Brandy announced that she has been inducted as an honorary member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
The induction took place at AKA’s 66th Boule in Charlotte, NC where the singer was accompanied by writer/director Ava DuVerna and Senator Z.C. Allyson Maynard Gibson as honorary members.
Brandy is following in the footsteps of her grandmother and mother who are also members of AKA. Brandy’s mother, Sonja hails from Southern University’s Beta Psi’s chapter.
Brandy took to Instagram posting a picture with her mother Sonjawearing all white, writing:
Today was a very special day. I became and honorary member of #AlphaKappaAlpha! I made this very special lady proud. @sonjanorwood- My mom’s legacy as an #AKA continues. Love to all my #Sorors <3 #sisterhood #ethics #strength #class #leadership #intellect #power #LOVE
