Hi Anya, I DO respect my forefathers..tremendously. However, at the same time i also realize they are human and not God. So just because they were affiliated with fraternities and sororities it’s ok? I’m sorry, but I’ve never been one to jump on the bandwagon…I’ve always been an individual. I’m sure the individuals you mentioned are turning over in their graves at the conduct exemplified in this video..by no means is this demonstrating unity amongst our already divided race. I don’t find anything worth dropping over at least $1000 dollars on just to say you’re a part of it..enduring a lot of butt whippings and stress. There were countless times my friends came to class with red eyes, looking all stressed out, grades failing and having to cheat to stay pass while on line. Many dropped out of college once they pledged. People don’t have to endure that chaos with their blood family so how in the world does that make sense with friends/strangers? I wish i could untag myself from this website because I’m tired of getting these same ole ad nauseam replies..if you pledged Awesome..if not Awesome!!! Continue to do what you feel is cool and right and I’ll do the same..at the end of the day they’re all opinions…i don’t know for sure and you don’t know for sure what the truth is…we can only formulate our beliefs on our experiences, common sense, and what we read…I DO know for sure that one day I will expire so I just try to live my life as righteous as possible. I apologize if I have offended anyone..it was not my intention…I only wanted to point out that the behavior exemplied is petty and uncalled for. I really think people, especially blacks, should focus more on unity being we experience so much injustice as a race already. Let’s focus more on building each other up, not breaking each other down.

May I ask, jealous of WHAT?!?!?!?!?…i mean really!!!..It is unfortunate that black people always come to the conclusion that someone is “jealous” or a “hater” because they are not in agreement or critical of something that someone else likes…don’t be THAT petty. How it appears to me is that you all are jealous and competitive towards each other…if not, this “hood” video would not have been made. Just except the fact I just did not like the video and it was MY right to state how I felt. its just like sibling rivalry or playing the dozens, its all in fun, its not that serious
Ms. Williamson as a proud member of the aforementioned “Greek people” I can assure you yard shows aren’t even a small portion of the totality of ours or any of our fellow Greek brothers and sisters. You’re are missing the mountain while gawking over the molehill. I suggest you do more research on what any of the Divine 9 organizations do for the various communities they work in and with before you comment. Getting together to “battle” through coordinated routines is the banter of camaraderie we share with other Greek organizations. As we do take it to be a fun yet serious matter it pales in comparison to the good work we do daily by creating content to engage the communities we live in by promoting education in various areas of one’s life. Content that encourages literacy in health & wellness, finances, education, political awareness and the like. We don’t just step but when we do we do enjoy it. As we are a passionate bunch a few of my sorors have chosen respond to your statement in defense of our beloved sorority. My reaction is one in effort to educate you on the merits of joining a group of like minded women to accomplish a shared goal.
So…….tell me again how an AKA can leave the sorority and become a Delta? I would just leave that little detail out. The skirt on that pig doesn’t change the fact that it is a pig. Cute show but that part…..ummmm….just let it stay buried in the history book.
LOL!! Back then, there was no NPHC so technically, it was still early enough to where they can do that. I’m with you though. Sounds like treason to me lol!!!
They look and act like a team of Junior high school girls who just bought those hideous outfits with money they raised from selling cheap candy. That aside, they should have spent more time perfecting their performance and less time trying to read. They all seemed pressed about other orgs. Too much too soon especially if they are neos. Disgusting. Sloppy. Tragic. You’re welcome.
This is correct. This is a part of Alpha Kappa Alpha’s history; this information is not knew. AKA’s and Delta’s need to stop this nonsense of whatever beef we have. At the end of the day, we are all African American women that need to focus on bigger and better things. This is really not that important, the real importance is focusing on the black community and making sure we set examples for our young African American females. If you really look at it, there is no surprise we have different organizations. We should because we have different personalities and goals that are neither wrong or right. What will it look like if everyone was driving the same car, same color make and model? This would not work because everyone have different taste and style and you pretty much pick the car that is right for you. So stop the buffoonery and embrace the sorority you are a part of and let’s practice unity instead of hate!
Its all for entertainment, Ive seen all the Sororities and Fraternities of the NPHC diss each other. Its nothing new. Especially between the delta’s and akas. Ive seen akas diss the delta’s all the time. It all depends on how u look at it. Some take it serious and some ppl think its funny when they diss each other. At the end of the day they all serve one purpose and that’s to serve and give back to the community
this was cute…its all love…love my sorors. I bet half of them have a “K” gf or aunt or even mom…my niece is one…and its all in fun & healthy competition…but from the outside some folks think its a serious hateful rivalry..new flash..it ain’t.
Technically, if it weren’t for the both of you all, we wouldn’t have AKA or DST. AKAs founded DST and AKA incorporated in response to DST. Soooooo, you all need each other lol!!!!
Tonya, been a member of Phi Beta Sigma for 34 years, and a Freemason for 30, I want to say You are entitled to your opinion, as that is what it is, an opinion. I know what D9 organizations have done in the past 109 years, and they have been in the forefront of seeing justice and equality. You are not REQUIRED to appreciate or even understand that. Some of what you have said is true. Pledging, which ended several years ago and is outlawed by all our organizations, has hurt and even killed people. Today there are a few renegades who continue this activity. It is also true that some in our organizations have also been ultra exclusionary. My own organization was founded based on inclusion rather than exclusion. I will not elaborate further as I am not trying to change your mind. I am simply here to say I support your right to disagree.
Are the g.d.i.s’ done…okay…so y’all openly state that the akas are y’all momma and if it wasn’t for them there would be no dst..y’all better repect talks momma..
I’m not in a sorority, but when I tell you I got my LIFE!!!! Seeing the great things my brother has done in his fraternity (Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.), I can say that it’s more than wearing letter and shouting chants. People have their reasons for joining sororities and fraternities, so to make assumptions is asinine. It’s not for everyone….that’s what makes them so special. I’m sorry but this video was EVERYTHING! I wish I could.have been there to see it…..
As a member of a BGLO I can’t stand the disrespectful chants my opinion is everyone chooses whatever organization fits their personality best you shouldn’t have to diss another to make you feel proud of yours I know it’s supposed to be in fun but it’s time to make a change
Thought about going Greek. But by the time they had a line I was a senior and decided it would be a distraction and graduating was more important although I did attend the interest meeting. good credential, 3.8 gpa, I still have the original application packet matter of fact. This was about 2 years ago. Nonetheless, While in college I joined Order of the Eastern Star my Sophomore year, and began my own successful incorporated service organization on campus also. So my service to the community was never stopped which is what was most important to me than anything and should be for everyone.
I will say I attended grad school for a semester after the new line crossed and found many of the neos of the line I was going to pledge to have deplorable despicable decorum and rude, condescending attitudes. which made me kinda happy I didnt join. I said to myself “they wont last long”… 7 months later they got put on “cease and desist”. Before then, I remember wearing my Eastern Star shirt for class because it was OUR founders day and one of them passing by me saying ‘she just want some shine cuz she aint make it”. and them moving girls purses from seats they were sitting and taking the table. Profane, loud, coming into others events. pushing people out the way. Strolling at inappropriate times. They actually gave themselves a bad rep.
It was only a matter of time before they Got kicked off for fighting and rioting at a collegiate event.
Had 3 of them hate me just because I was OES and ask me did i think it was “better”.
My point is organizations purpose is service, greek or not. Lets remember that. Just because someone isnt greek doesnt mean they arent worthy or when they give you critisism it doesnt necessary mean they wanna be you. I think Greek organizations are great. But if we greeks and nongreeks could come together as a community to make change think about the greater power and beauty in that. Im not interested to Masonic and Eastern Stars history as it pertains to Black Greeks existing. There is no comparison or need to spit our historical relevance to anyone. We just want to see the community win. Humility and love is always key no mattter who they are. A person that wasnt hazed on line might have been hazed in the struggle of life. Find the common denominator.
Yet if OES did spit its relevance to BGLO existance, wonder what that would be like…
Nicely put Ms. La Girl…..I appreciate fact you kept it very professional and attempted to educate me. You are a great role model of how other women in these organizations should conduct themselves. May you continue to remain positive and do good deeds for the community. You have my respect. Wishing you nothing but greatness !!! Take care!!!

Annnnd….why are you here?…lol…it’s amusing because there are plenty of sites that cater to GDI’s…and with you being one of them wouldn’t you want to slide over there ?…because you staying here stating your unpopular “opinion” makes you appear like a jealous hater…just sayin.

Beeeeeeecause someone had posted the hood clip on facebook…sorry, i thought it was my right as a human to visit any site I wanted…I really don’t know what this site is and don’t care to know…all i know is I saw a very ignorant, disturbing video clip of young black women behaving very hoodlike. I think in order for me to leave comment I had to set up an account…can’t recall.. so long ago…anywho, the next time my jealous, hating self will be more gingerly with what I comment on because the last thing i would want is for all you intelligent, wise Greeks to be angry with ole hatin/jealous me….you guys are so right and I am so wrong..

Not a matter of “having a right” its a matter of if this “hood clip” as you so eloquently state is beneath you…not worthy of your precious time…why come here and even comment? You still come across as a bitter, hater with your vile comments..whats wrong…went to Rush and didn’t get a second look?…no…you didn’t even bother because you already knew…deep inside that you were inadequate and no one was going to give you a chance to get on a line.

You’re so right and I’m so wrong. I thought I was commenting highlight how ridicoulously childlike and barbaric this video came across. I really honestly thought it was my right to express my thoughts, in hope they would make a difference. Just to let you know I was invited to join a line while in college..and still being recruited as an adult to do grad chapter. I would have to say quite the contrary…I’m too adequate to affiliate with such chaos. It was MY choice not to join. I had several people wanting to sponsor me…but I guess I’m still an inadequate, jealous hater? If it makes you happy, I’ll be that for you young/old lady..not quite sure of your age.

I have no reasoning for the title. Someone wanted to stir the pot. You’re right and hopefully everyone finds what works for them.
The show was what it was meant to be, a show. This is one of many Greek diss chants among our organizations. It is not meant for everyone (GDIs) to understand. And you may not. It doesn’t have to be defended nor explained.
Hazing and abuse are just that. They exsist in many types of relationships. Many times people have resorted to hazing to join various organizations. And for NPHC organizations it is absolutely not condoned or tolerated. But just like you break rules, others may. It does not mean that this is part of the whole. *sigh* If it’s not for you, you are not being asked to paparticipate, you may be dismissed.

Thanks so much Sandra. Fortunately, I do not partake in any abusive activities..the only rules i break are not driving the. speed limit…but I’m glad i have you’re permission…surely did not want to be dismissed without a greeks approval…again, you’re so right and I’m so wrong…

Yes ma’am sergeant williams…I’m hastily getting back in line standing at attention as i type…clearly, i don’t want the greeks getting angry with me for exercising my rights as a human being. Once again, you’re so right and I’m so wrong…

Don’t be so sensitive!!!!!!!…Now, the person who is exempted from paying taxes and never have to worry about becoming ill or loved ones becoming ill…that’s the person that i may be a little jealous of…trust and believe…NOT this!!! But again…if it makes you happy, I’ll be jealous. Again, you’re so right and I’m so wrong!!!!!

Technically, if it weren’t for the both of you all, we wouldn’t have AKA or DST. AKAs founded DST and AKA incorporated in response to DST. Soooooo, you all need each other lol!!!!

Maybe just at Howard U? That doesn’t even make sense. Both orgs were founded at Howard.
