A Soror of Alpha Kappa Alpha From Michigan Was Just Crowned Miss Black USA
Kelsi Horn, a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. from Michigan, was just crowned Miss Black USA.
The Miss Black USA Scholarship Pageant is a national scholarship competition for young women of African descent that was founded in 1986. Kelsi, who represented Miss Black Michigan, USA in the competition, took home the crown last night at nationals.
She is the first queen representing Michigan to win the Miss Black USA pageant since 1989.
Kelsi received a Bachelor of Science in Advertising Management & Public Relations from Michigan State University in 2017 where she also became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha through the Delta Zeta chapter of the sorority in the spring of 2016.
She has a strong interest in civic engagement and is passionate about entrepreneurship. She is also the CEO of a luxury event planning company.

Kelsi is very passionate about dispelling the stigmas around mental health and will use her platform as Miss Black USA to raise awareness of Mental Health in the Black Community.
