Bernie Sanders released a dramatic new ad today featuring Erica Garner, the daughter of police chokehold victim Eric Garner.
The four-minute ad starts with Garner’s daughter talking about her own daughter having learned about the civil rights struggle in school. “She just learned about Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King,” says Garner, “I had to explain to her that it’s not really over.”
Erica Garner, who publicly endorsed Sanders last month because she believes he will be able to get to the bottom of her father’s case as well as work to stop police brutality, then goes on to say “My dad’s name is Eric Garner. No one gets to see their parent’s last moments. I was able to see my dad die on national TV.”
