It looks like these members of Sigma Chi could give the MIAKAs a run for their money.

The AKAs trained these Sigma Chi frat brothers how to stroll for their campus’ Flip Flop Stroll Challenge. It looks like they taught them well!

What do you think about their stroll? Did they hold it down for the pink and green? Let us know in the comments.

This apparently must be something that they have started doing in recent years. I’m an old school AKA and that is not how we did things in school. I’m not going to knock my sisters, it’s a new day! It looks harmless…. As long as the pink & green is not being disrespected I’m fine with it! Skee-Wee

I will say that, when I was on campus, we hosted a party with the Deltas, and switched colors, but just for that night. We were trying to show unity, and the change was well received, but I, too, am an old school AKA. This would not have happened.

This is a mess. I guess some of the younger greeks would consider me “old” school because I crossed in 2005. Is nothing sacred or exclusive to us anymore? There are other ways to show unity. Have joint mixers and social activities. Have joint community service programs and initiatives, but please don’t imitate our sisterhood or any of our other greek brothers and sisters.

The only thing missing is the hair and the high heels. I needed a good laugh today. Thanks EE

sometimes we need to loosen up, ladies. I was made in 1971 and I thought what a great way to foster understanding between Greeks. Just a month or so ago there was pushback about a white frat who was harassing us. Now that is where our outrage needs to go. IJS

this is University of Memphis. They do this to show unity now days esp with the white orgs not to sound blunt and the black orgs… it’s very diverse I am guessing…. But there are always Hop Like a Que events and Shimmy like a Nupe events as well.

This is disrespectful to the founders. Y’all just don’t get it…that’s not the way it’s done. If you only knew what sacrifices they made. This is not cute nor is it funny. Be creative in a respectful manner. There are other ways to foster unity.

This is something that has been going on for a while…. Ummmm this is also in Memphis,Tn…. The schools there always have frat and sorority switch days and it’s not to disrespect….. it’s a contest…. they also have other things like Hop like a Que, or Shimmy like a Nupe events as well. But it’s not out of any disrespect it’s just campus fun… Showing Greek Unity between all orgs on the campus…..

Also, that isn’t the original stroll that University of Memphis do to them songs….. its a lot more that goes with it so I am guessing they did dub it down so it wouldn’t be way out the way…. keeping the line of respect for the orgs…

People are complaining about something that’s harmless. They’re not wearing the letters, nor are they doing anything that is or was sanctioned by the sorority. Real members know that the founders did not skee-wee, didn’t hold the pinky up, etc. people are so damn caugh up in all the hype of undergrad life but are you active today? Are you financially active? This was harmless and nothing that they did crossed any boundaries. Loosen up

This Alpha Kappa Alpha Member is Making History by Opening the First Chick-fil-A in Downtown Los Angeles

Ashley Derby, a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and Spelman graduate, made history in 2011 when she became the youngest African-American female franchise owner in the history of Chick-fil-A at 26 years old. She making history again by bringing the franchise to downtown Los Angeles.

Derby is an Atlanta native who started working at Chick-fil-A as a teenager to save money for a car. She stuck with the company through her undergrad years at Spelman. Because of her boss’ advice, Derby switched her major to focus on economics and applied for leadership roles at the restaurant.
