The statement acknowledged Howard’s unwavering commitment to leadership, mentorship, and advocacy, highlighting the countless lives she touched through her work within the university and beyond.

Ms. Howard’s contributions extended across multiple organizations, where she consistently championed initiatives aimed at uplifting marginalized communities. Her legacy as a leader within Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. and as an Iota Sweetheart of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc. underscores her dedication to service and community empowerment.
“As the current president for the Florida State University chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). I am deeply committed to ensuring that the remarkable legacy of Ms. Charlene Howard continues to inspire and uplift,” current FSU NAACP President Alysha Dorcely stated. “Ms. Charlene embodied what it means to be a leader, a mentor, and a trailblazer.
