Watch The Yard Is Hiring: Social Media Coordinator (Contract Position)

Type: Part-Time Remote Contract
Commitment: 2-3 month contract with potential for contract renewal
Applications will be accepted through April 24th.
Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for a detail-oriented, culturally fluent D9 member to manage the day-to-day content operations of Watch The Yard’s social media. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of social media strategy, advanced Canva skills, and a deep knowledge of the D9 and Black college landscape. We welcome applicants at all stages of their career but priority will be given to those with demonstrated experience. You will be executing within a system that is already built, not designing the strategy. Strong commitment to D9 unity and equal representation of all Black fraternities, sororities, and Black college culture including Black students and alumni from HBCUs and PWIs is a must. This role is ideal for someone looking to supplement their income while contributing meaningfully to a brand that is already a staple in the D9 and HBCU community.
Core Responsibilities
- Create title cards and format video content in Canva using Watch The Yard templates
- Execute evergreen carousel graphics and infographics in Canva from detailed creative briefs provided to you
- Monitor Watch The Yard’s tagged photos and mentions to identify strong submission content
- Vet submissions against Watch The Yard’s content standards and submission requirements
- Write captions for all content types
- Schedule and manage all content in Later across Instagram, Facebook, Threads, and Twitter/X
- Monitor comment sections after posts go live and maintain a positive and clean community environment
- Flag anything that needs the founder’s attention or approval
What You Must Have
- Advanced Canva skills, carousel and infographic creation specifically
- Experience with or ability to quickly learn Later/Buffer for scheduling
- Deep knowledge of all nine orgs, their history, culture, and current community, not just your own
- Strong written communication skills for caption writing
- Reliable availability for submission monitoring
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines without heavy supervision
- Comfortable receiving direction and feedback
- Membership in a Divine Nine organization
Compensation and Schedule
This role requires approximately 10 hours per week and offers full schedule flexibility within agreed deadlines. Compensation is performance based with the opportunity to increase upon contract renewal. A contractor agreement with confidentiality terms will be required prior to starting.
What Success Looks Like
At the end of the contract period you will have consistently delivered on time, maintained Watch The Yard’s content standards, and demonstrated equal and fair coverage across all nine organizations and Black college culture including students and alumni from HBCUs and PWIs.
