Phi Beta Sigma Just Chartered A Chapter in The Dominican Republic
In a significant stride towards enhancing its international presence, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. marked a historic milestone on Saturday, December 2, 2023, with the chartering of the Tau Tau Sigma Chapter in the Dominican Republic. The ceremony, a testament to the fraternity’s commitment to community service, unfolded in the vibrant city of Santo Domingo, the bustling capital and largest metropolitan area of the Dominican Republic.
Hon. Chris V. Rey, J.D., the distinguished International President of Phi Beta Sigma, alongside Dr. Errick Farmer, Southern Regional Director, and a cadre of other esteemed international and regional leaders, presided over the chartering ceremony. Their presence underscored the fraternity’s dedication to fostering its mission on a global scale and nurturing the spirit of brotherhood beyond domestic borders.
The induction of new members, a pivotal moment in the fraternity’s legacy, further solidified Phi Beta Sigma’s expansion into the heart of the Caribbean. The newly chartered Tau Tau Sigma Chapter joins the ranks of existing Phi Beta Sigma chapters in the region, notably in St. Thomas and St. Croix, creating a cohesive network of service-oriented brotherhood throughout the islands.
As Phi Beta Sigma continues to extend its reach, the chartering of Tau Tau Sigma Chapter serves as both a symbolic and substantive testament to the fraternity’s commitment to promoting scholarship, service, and social activism across diverse communities. The event not only exemplifies Phi Beta Sigma’s dedication to its foundational principles but also signifies the fraternity’s recognition of the interconnectedness of global communities in the pursuit of shared values.
