Phi Beta Sigma and Zeta Phi Beta Team Up for ‘Real Talk: The Community-Based Counter-Offensive to Project 2025’ at CBC Week 2025
During the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation’s 45th Annual Legislative Conference (CBC Week 2025), Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. co-hosted the powerful return of Real Talk: The Community-Based Counter-Offensive to Project 2025.
The forum addressed urgent concerns about potential policy rollbacks and threats to civil rights, while equipping attendees with tools to organize, defend, and strengthen their communities.
The panel brought together a distinguished group of leaders and lawmakers:
- Hon. Bro. David A. Turner, International President, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.
- Bro. Maxwell Frost, U.S. Representative (FL)
- Soror Andrea Hunley, Indiana State Senator
- Bro. N. Scott Phillips, Maryland House of Delegates
- Soror Christale Spain, Chair, South Carolina Democratic Party
- Soror Sydney Kamlager-Dove, U.S. Representative (CA)

Opening remarks were delivered by Dr. Stacie NC Grant, International President of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. and newly appointed Chair of the D9 Council of Presidents. Soror Krysta Jones moderated the discussion, keeping the focus on grassroots empowerment, coalition-building, and national alignment against regressive agendas.
What made this year’s “Real Talk” especially impactful was its emphasis on strategy. Panelists outlined the stakes of Project 2025, highlighting how communities must mobilize across local and national levels to defend progress in education, civil rights, and social justice.
The event underscored the role of the Divine Nine as not only cultural anchors but also vital forces in civic life—where advocacy, organizing, and leadership converge. By uniting voices from the statehouse to Congress, Phi Beta Sigma and Zeta Phi Beta demonstrated how collective action remains essential in protecting the rights and futures of Black communities nationwide.
