Civil Rights Leader James Forman Was A Member Of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity
Did you know that SNCC and Black Panther Party member James Forman was a part of Phi Beta Sigma? Forman was a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.
James Forman was an effective leader during the civil rights movement. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, and sent to live with his Grandmother in Marshall County, Mississippi as an 11-month-year-old baby. He was the executive secretary of SNCC (Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee), and a member of the Black Panther Party.

The New York Times called him “a civil rights pioneer who brought a fiercely revolutionary vision and masterly organizational skills to virtually every major civil rights battleground in the 1960s.”
