Attorney Sharon Moody Inducted as Honorary Member of Sigma Gamma Rho
Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. proudly inducted Sharon Moody as an honorary member during its 60th International Biennial Boule held in Houston today.
With over 30 years of experience in both civil and criminal law, Sharon Moody has established herself as a formidable leader in legal defense and advocacy. As the Interim Chief Defense Attorney for the Richmond County Trial Office at The Legal Aid Society in New York, Moody oversees a vital legal support system for the city’s youth. Her role includes counseling young individuals and their families, ensuring their rights are upheld within the Juvenile Justice System through prevention of police interrogations, facilitating safe surrenders, and providing early legal support.
Moody’s commitment to service extends beyond her official duties. She actively seeks to address the broader needs of her clients, recognizing that legal representation alone is not always sufficient. Her approach involves identifying and filling gaps in support, ensuring that underserved communities have the opportunities and resources needed to thrive. Moody is a dedicated problem solver and advocate, working tirelessly to help individuals find pathways to success where none may seem apparent.
In addition to her significant legal contributions, Moody’s induction into Sigma Gamma Rho acknowledges her unwavering commitment to diversity, inclusion, and grassroots organizing. Alongside Moody, Sigma Gamma Rho honored twelve other distinguished women at the Boule: Krystal Harris, Ta’Rhonda Jones, Bianca Knight, LaTavia Roberson, Kim Roxie, April Showers, Kera Wright, Bettina Benson, Rebekah Borucki, Jackie Chambers de Freitas, Kelley Gay, and Dwan Martin.
