The Brothers of Omega Psi Phi at FAMU Have Been Doing Powerful Service Work All Summer
The Upsilon Psi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. at Florida A&M University has been putting their principles into action all summer, leading with purpose, presence, and profound impact in the Tallahassee community.
From education and food insecurity to environmental sustainability and youth engagement, the chapter’s commitment to service has touched nearly every corner of civic life. Highlights of their summer efforts include:
- Supporting STEM education by organizing materials at the STEM Center for Verizon Innovative Learning’s summer camp at TSC
- Assisting the Tallahassee Alumni Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta and Christie’s Sports and Philanthropy Strategy Group at a youth football event
- Volunteering at the FAMU Mini Farm, where they maintained gardens and created compost for future crops
- Partnering with Farm Share of Tallahassee to distribute hurricane preparedness supplies, serving over 300 cars and 500+ families
- Collaborating with FAMU administration to stock and organize the campus food pantry for students in need
- Serving hot meals and refreshments to unhoused individuals at the Kearny Center

Each of these actions reflects Omega Psi Phi’s unwavering dedication to uplifting the community and upholding the Fraternity’s mission of manhood, scholarship, perseverance, and uplift.
At Watch The Yard, we commend the Upsilon Psi Chapter not only for their service, but for documenting it. In a time when consistency and impact matter, it’s essential to spotlight chapters that embody what Black greek excellence looks like in action.
