In an effort to highlight the people who are leading colleges and universities across the nation, we at Watch The Yard reached out to Stillman College and did an interview with Kennedy-MyCal Davis the 2022-2023 Student Government Association president.
The position of SGA president is a highly respected role and there is a special pride that one takes in being elected by their peers to lead. Davis, who is majoring in Business Administration with a concentration in marketing and cybersecurity minor, is from Prichard, Alabama. She is a proud Spring 2021 initiate of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
We interviewed Kennedy-MyCal Davis, and talked to her about her position, goals, future and what it means to hold this type of leadership position in 2022-2023.

What is the biggest thing you’ve learned as an SGA president so far?
The biggest thing that I have learned being an SGA President so far is knowing that I have to care for the futures of others not just my own.
What made you decide to attend Stillman College for undergrad?
Stillman College felt like a family!
How has Stillman College molded you into the person you are today?
Stillman College has molded me to being a fearless leader who will not stop working until the job is done.
What specific initiatives have you headed up this year (or are planning) and how do you think they will improve the school and surrounding community?
We have started to do gas giveaways in our community.
How is your SGA administration/school currently working on attending to the mental health of students?
We are currently working on a mental health day proposal.
What does leadership mean to you?
Leadership to me means being a selfless person that makes sure that their people have the necessary things to succeed.
We now live in a digital world, what do you think schools need to do to represent themselves online in 2022/2023?
I think it would be very nice to see colleges have personal snapchat stories so students all over can post to them and make mutual connections from there.
Why do you think Watch The Yard is important to Black students and college culture?
It gives students a personal inside look at how college life is not just like the movies.
What do you plan on doing after graduation?
I plan on going to grad school for gender/race studies to pursue my dream in being a civil rights lawyer.
We at Watch The Yard would like to commend Kennedy-MyCal Davis for her work as the SGA president of Stillman College.
