Yale Art Professor Robert Reed Was A Member Of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity

Did you know that art professor Robert Reed was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi? Reed pledged the Alpha Iota Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
Robert James Reed Jr. was born in Charlottesville, Virginia on July 9th, 1938, and died on December 26, 2014, at the age of 76. He lived most of his life as an artist and professor in New Haven Connecticut where he taught painting and printmaking for 45 years at Yale School of Art University.

Reed’s artwork is primarily abstract and a lot of the time employs geometric abstraction. His work also has personalized symbols that are used to create his unique language of abstraction. His imagery includes abstract symbols, color, and deeply textured brushwork.
Reed would explain that fragments, paths, cultural or universal signs/symbols are organized into his paintings for something as simple as personal memory or childhood memories to represent more worldly ideas such as premonitions rising up from nature.
