Kappa Alpha Psi’s Andre Dickens Wins Re‑Election as Atlanta Mayor

In a decisive victory, Andre Dickens, a brother of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., has secured a second term as mayor of Atlanta.
Declared the winner by the Associated Press at 8:13 p.m. on Tuesday, Dickens earned over 50 percent of the vote, defeating three challengers and avoiding a runoff. Though the office of mayor is officially nonpartisan, Atlanta has long been a stronghold for Democratic leadership, and Dickens continues that legacy with his re-election.
Before first taking office in 2022, Dickens served on the Atlanta City Council and worked as chief development officer for a tech-based nonprofit focused on workforce development. His administration has prioritized infrastructure, public safety, and affordable housing, and he has earned praise for his collaborative leadership style.
Dickens is a 1995 initiate of the Lambda Delta Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. at Georgia Tech, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering. He later earned a master’s degree in Public Administration with a focus in Economic Development from Georgia State University.
Dickens’ re-election is more than a political win. It is a powerful reminder of the role Black fraternity and sorority members continue to play in shaping cities, policy, and progress. With four more years ahead, Atlanta and Black Greekdom will be watching.
