The Black fraternity and sorority community is currently mourning the passing of William “Bill” Wallace, a trailblazing leader, charter member of the Bahamas Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. , and a pillar of Black fraternity and sorority life in The Bahamas.

Wallace was the Charter President of the Bahamas Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi and the inaugural President of the Nassau, Bahamas Pan-Hellenic Council, serving from 1980 to 1990. His influence extended nationally and regionally through roles including Chairman of the Grand Finance Committee, Co-Chairman of the Southern Province, and service on both the Southern Province and National Boards of Directors, making him the first member outside the continental U.S. to do so.

Locally, Wallace’s work was instrumental in the formation of the Nassau, Bahamas Pan-Hellenic Council. He was also inducted into The Bahamas Greek Hall of Fame in 2005 for his unmatched contributions to Greekdom in the region.

Beyond fraternity life, Wallace was a respected accountant, serving as Managing Partner of Parnell Kerr Foster and holding several leadership positions including President of the Bahamas Institute of Chartered Accountants and Chairman of the National Junkanoo Committee. He also served as Director of the Bank of The Bahamas and Charter President of Delta Lambda Boule of Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity, Inc.

A devoted family man and servant leader, he gave of his time to the Parish Vestry and Senior Choir of St. Agnes Anglican Church. His enduring legacy is one of integrity, community uplift, and cultural stewardship.

To honor his memory, the Junkanoo Corporation of New Providence (JCNP) will host a Tribute Junkanoo Rush on August 5, 2025, following his memorial service. This special celebration will pay homage to his deep commitment to the growth and governance of Junkanoo and the Bahamian community.

Watch The Yard sends heartfelt condolences to the Wallace family, the brotherhood of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., and the entire Bahamian Greek community. Wallace’s life is a shining example of what it means to live the values of service, scholarship, and brotherhood.
