Black Greekdom Mourns The Loss of Iota Phi Theta’s 11th Grand Polaris, Edward Allen Eason

The Black greek community is mourning the passing of a visionary leader and steadfast servant, Edward Allen Eason, the 11th Grand Polaris of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc.

Eason’s life was a powerful testament to the enduring values of Iota Phi Theta: scholarship, leadership, citizenship, fidelity, and brotherhood. His leadership not only guided the fraternity through pivotal chapters, but also left a legacy of strength, unity, and vision that will impact generations to come.

Beyond his time as Grand Polaris, Eason inspired brothers across the nation to lead with integrity and to serve their communities with humility. His influence shaped the ethos of Iota and deepened the bonds of brotherhood among its members. His leadership was more than administrative, it was transformative.

In an official statement, the fraternity shared: “Brother Eason’s influence is woven into the very fabric of our fraternity, a debt of gratitude we will carry forever.”

The fraternity also expressed its solidarity and support for the Eason family during this time, affirming that the Iota family stands with them in love and strength.

As the Black Greek world pauses to honor his memory, we are reminded that true leadership doesn’t end with a title—it lives on in the lives touched, the values upheld, and the service continued. Edward Allen Eason’s legacy will forever remain a guiding light within Iota Phi Theta and the broader community of Black Greekdom.

According to the fraternity, funeral arrangements will be shared with the Brotherhood once finalized.
