Tech Executive Toni Townes-Whitley Inducted as Honorary Member of Delta Sigma Theta

Tech executive Toni Townes-Whitley, one of the most influential technology leaders in the country, has been inducted as an Honorary Member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. The announcement was made at the Sorority’s 57th National Convention, recognizing Townes-Whitley among eight exceptional women whose professional achievements and commitment to service exemplify Delta’s mission and values.

Townes-Whitley is the President and CEO of SAIC, a $7.4 billion technology and engineering company serving defense, intelligence, space, and civilian government sectors. In 2023, she made history as the first Black woman to lead a publicly traded government contractor of SAIC’s size.

Her career spans decades of leadership in regulated industries and enterprise technology. Before joining SAIC, she served as President of Microsoft’s U.S. regulated industries division, overseeing a $16 billion portfolio. She has also held key roles at CGI Federal and Unisys, where she led exponential revenue growth and drove public-sector innovation.

Townes-Whitley’s impact extends beyond the C-suite. She currently serves on the boards of Nasdaq, the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, Catalyst, the Partnership for Public Service, and the Princeton Faith & Work Initiative. She also lectures at institutions like Princeton and Stanford on technology ethics and public policy innovation.

Her induction into Delta Sigma Theta reflects a career not only of groundbreaking leadership but of purpose-driven service. A former Peace Corps volunteer in Gabon and longtime advocate for women in technology, Townes-Whitley embodies the Sorority’s Five-Point Programmatic Thrust and its principles of Sisterhood, Scholarship, and Service.

Toni Townes-Whitley joins the 2025 line of Honorary Members that includes Donna Brazile, Danielle Brooks, Jackie Joyner-Kersee, Janice Bryant Howroyd, Swin Cash, Dana “Queen Latifah” Owens, and Fawn Weaver.
