Dr. Bettina Adjei, Physician and Greater Baltimore County Jack and Jill President, Becomes a Member of Delta Sigma Theta

Dr. Bettina Adjei, an Emergency Medicine physician and President of the Greater Baltimore County Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc., is one of the newest members of Delta Sigma Theta’s Baltimore Alumnae Chapter through their new line The Chosen 86. Her service-driven career spans medicine, youth leadership, and community advocacy, reflecting a deep commitment to strengthening Black families across Baltimore City and County.

Dr. Adjei currently practices Emergency Medicine with Kaiser Permanente in Halethorpe, Maryland, where she works in Clinical Decision Units that streamline patient evaluation and reduce unnecessary admissions. Her passion for innovative, patient-centered models of urgent and emergent care began in 2008 when she founded two urgent care centers—MyCare Express in Eldersburg and Reisterstown. As CEO and Medical Director, she led clinical operations, business development, and staffing within a rapidly expanding field.

A dedicated educator, Dr. Adjei has trained future healthcare professionals as a Clinical Preceptor for the University of Maryland and Johns Hopkins Schools of Nursing, Anne Arundel Community College’s Physician Assistant Program, and the University of Maryland’s Family Medicine Residency. She has also contributed to diversifying the medical field through her work on Drexel University College of Medicine’s Diversity Advisory Council and its Dean’s Executive Advisory Council.

Her service extends beyond medicine. As Chapter President of the Greater Baltimore County Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc., she supports African American families through leadership development, civic engagement, philanthropy, and youth programming. She has also led the chapter’s Gavel Club, mentoring children and teens in public speaking and leadership.

Reflecting on her Delta journey, Dr. Adjei shared: “As Chapter President of the Greater Baltimore County Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc., and as an Emergency Medicine physician, I am privileged to serve African American families and youth in multiple capacities. Before joining Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., my work in the Baltimore community focused on mentorship, health education, and expanding opportunities for children and young adults to lead, learn, and thrive. My experiences in emergency medicine have strengthened my commitment to prioritizing both physical health and mental wellness, critical pillars that shape the stability and resilience of Black families.”

She continued: “Becoming a member of Delta Sigma Theta will allow me to broaden this work even further, deepening my reach across Baltimore City and County and amplifying the collective impact we can make for the greater good of our community and for improved health outcomes for all.”

As a member of The Chosen 86, Dr. Bettina Adjei brings her medical expertise, entrepreneurial spirit, and passion for youth empowerment into the sisterhood of Delta Sigma Theta, expanding her impact across the communities she is dedicated to serving.
