Political Strategist Donna Brazile Inducted as Honorary Member of Delta Sigma Theta

It was just announced that Donna Brazile has been inducted as an Honorary Member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. The announcement was made during the Sorority’s 57th National Convention, as part of a distinguished class of eight women recognized for their extraordinary achievements and societal impact.

Brazile, a veteran strategist, Emmy- and Peabody-winning media contributor, and New York Times bestselling author, has long been a force in national politics and public service. She made history as the first Black woman to manage a major party presidential campaign, leading Al Gore’s 2000 bid for the White House. She has twice served as interim Chair of the Democratic National Committee and continues to influence the party’s direction as a member of its Rules and Bylaws Committee.

Beyond politics, Brazile is a celebrated educator and author. She’s taught at both Georgetown and Howard Universities, held fellowships at Harvard’s Institute of Politics, and authored several acclaimed books including Cooking with GreaseHacks, and the NAACP Image Award-winning For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Politics.

Her induction into Delta Sigma Theta reflects a career defined by excellence, advocacy, and the pursuit of justice—qualities that align with the Sorority’s Five-Point Programmatic Thrust and its principles of Sisterhood, Scholarship, and Service.

“This year’s class of Honorary Members represents a powerhouse group of barrier-breaking women across politics, entertainment, business, sports, and social impact,” said Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. International President Elsie Cooke-Holmes. “Each one a force in her field and a reflection of Delta’s enduring mission.”

Donna Brazile joins an esteemed line of 2025 Honorary Members that includes actress Danielle Brooks, Olympic champion Jackie Joyner-Kersee, business executive Janice Bryant Howroyd, tech leader Toni Townes-Whitley, entertainment icon Dana “Queen Latifah” Owens, sports executive Swin Cash, and entrepreneur Fawn Weaver.
