The Howard University Class of 2005 has announced that it has raised $211,363 for its class endowment for its 20th reunion during the 101st Howard University Homecoming. Affectionally known as #ForeverHU05, the class exceeded its original goal of $150,000 in scholarship support for current Howard University students before Homecoming officially began on October 23.

Donations will continue to be accepted through the end of the year, and all contributions will count toward the class’s 20th anniversary reunion fund.

“Our class set out to prove that we are indeed a Legacy in Motion as we worked diligently to dispel the myth that Historically Black College and University alumni do not give back to their alma maters,” said Dr. Steve D. Mobley, Jr., chairman of the Howard University Class of 2005 20th Reunion Planning Committee. “Our goal as a committee is to serve as a possibility model and cultivate younger alumni engagement in the future. We hope that our fundraising efforts galvanize future classes to engage in a deliberate and intentional manner with our alma mater. “

Reunion activities for the class included happy hours at SOST and 1942 DC, a nostalgic day party at Karma, and a farewell brunch at Air. Members of the class also attended major Homecoming events such as the Old Howard Gala and gathered for an official class photo on Saturday afternoon.

The Class of 2005 also partnered with the Bison-owned apparel company Black and Scholared to produce an exclusive line of reunion gear. The collaboration generated an additional $10,000 for the class endowment.

Watch The Yard congratulates the Howard University Class of 2005 on its leadership, commitment, and investment in the next generation of Bison.
