Alpha Phi Alpha in Government: Congressional Leaders and Top Hill Staff Gather for Founders Day Portrait
In honor of Founders Day, members of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. who serve across the U.S. Congress and throughout Capitol Hill gathered for a powerful moment of unity and representation. Current Alpha congressional leaders, along with a distinguished group of Alpha chiefs of staff, senior aides, and policy strategists, came together for a historic group photo inside the U.S. Capitol. Captured by Phi Nguyen, an Official U.S. House of Representatives Photographer, the image highlights the fraternity’s long-standing presence in national public service and leadership.
The gathering brought together Alpha men who help shape federal policy at the highest levels of government. Members of Congress pictured include Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (Missouri), Rep. John James (Michigan), Rep. Steven Horsford (Nevada), Rep. Gabe Amo (Rhode Island), Rep. Al Green (Texas), Rep. Bobby Scott (Virginia), Rep. Danny K. Davis (Illinois), and Rep. Gregory Meeks (New York). Also serving in Congress but not pictured are Sen. Raphael Warnock (Georgia) and Rep. David Scott (Georgia).

The photo also featured several of Capitol Hill’s most respected current and former Alpha staffers and chiefs of staff—individuals whose work and influence help drive the legislative process every day. Those pictured include Ernie Jolly, Kamau Marshall, Todd Valentine, Clifton RS Williams III, Dana Thompson, Reggie McCrimmon, Dr. Okey K. Enyia, Sean Burns, Rooselvet Holmes, Garrett McDaniels, Josh Delaney, Nick Johnson, Ryan Gorger, and Jeff Ballou.
Together, the image serves as a reminder of Alpha Phi Alpha’s deep roots in government and its impact from the local level to the national stage. These leaders continue the fraternity’s long tradition of service, advocacy, and commitment to uplifting communities, now reflected in the halls where some of the country’s most important decisions are made.
