Alpha Phi Alpha Just Crossed A Line of Notable New Members in Houston, Texas
Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. has welcomed a new line of initiates through its Alpha Eta Lambda Chapter in Houston, Texas, representing the Southwest Region. The initiation took place on June 1, 2025, and includes a group of distinguished leaders whose work spans healthcare, public service, politics, and community advocacy.

The new members initiated through the Alpha Eta Lambda Chapter include:
- Dr. Marcus Stoddard, Cardiologist at University of Louisville Health
- Congressman Gabe Amo, the first Black member of Congress from the state of Rhode Island
- Dr. Christopher Jones, physicist and the first Black Democratic nominee for Governor of Arkansas
- James Harris, Senior Director of Diversity, Inclusion, and Supplier Diversity at H-E-B
- Judge Joe Stephens, Harris County Justice of the Peace and former professional basketball player in the NBA and Europe

Each of these men brings a legacy of leadership, service, and excellence that reflects the high standards of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Their record of leadership, professional achievement, and service reflects the fraternity’s mission to cultivate excellence, advocate for the underserved, and empower future generations.

Alpha Phi Alpha, founded in 1906 at Cornell University, continues to expand its legacy across regions by initiating men who exemplify its guiding principles of manly deeds, scholarship, and love for all mankind.
