Beverly Johnson Inducted as Honorary Member of Alpha Kappa Alpha

Beverly Johnson, supermodel, New York Times bestselling author, actress, and entrepreneur, has been inducted as an Honorary Member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. The ceremony took place at the Sorority’s 2025 Leadership Seminar in Anaheim, California, celebrating Johnson and three other trailblazing women for their extraordinary achievements and enduring impact.

In 1974, Johnson became the first African American woman to appear on the cover of Vogue magazine, forever changing the face of fashion and redefining standards of beauty worldwide. Over the course of her five-decade career, she has graced more than 500 magazine covers and was named one of the 20th Century’s 100 Most Influential People in Fashion by The New York Times.

Johnson is the author of the bestselling memoir The Face That Changed It All, which is currently being adapted into a Warner Brothers series. She is also the creator and star of Beverly’s Full House on OWN and is widely recognized as a leading voice for women’s empowerment, diversity, and wellness.

Alpha Kappa Alpha awards Honorary Membership as its highest distinction, granted to women who embody its ideals of scholarship, service, and sisterhood. Honorary Members are invited to actively engage in the Sorority’s programs and initiatives to advance its mission.

“Welcoming these phenomenal women into our Sisterhood is a powerful testament to our legacy of distinction,” said International President & CEO Danette Anthony Reed, who presided over the induction ceremony. “Their voices and vision will further strengthen our mission of impactful service to all mankind.”

Beverly Johnson joins the 2025 class of Honorary Members alongside Laura Coates, CNN’s chief legal analyst and anchor; Karine Jean-Pierre, former White House Press Secretary and senior advisor to President Joe Biden; and Gabby Thomas, Olympic gold medalist and public health advocate.
