Alpha Kappa Alpha’s Dr. Valerie Camille Jones Ford Inducted into the National Teachers Hall of Fame

Dr. Valerie Camille Jones Ford, a distinguished educator and member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., has been inducted into the National Teachers Hall of Fame—becoming one of only five educators honored nationwide this year and just the fourth inductee ever from the state of Georgia.

A member of the sorority’s Mu Pi Chapter initiated at Spelman College, Dr. Jones Ford was selected from hundreds of nominees across the country. Her induction recognizes decades of excellence in education, mentorship, and leadership in the classroom.

The surprise announcement took place at the Ron Clark Academy, where Dr. Jones Ford currently teaches, with the help of CBS News correspondent David Begnaud and the CBS Mornings team. Surrounded by students, colleagues, and family, she was visibly moved by the honor.

In celebration of her induction, both Dr. Jones Ford and the Ron Clark Academy were surprised with a $20,000 gift from Canva, as aired during the CBS Mornings broadcast.

Dr. Jones Ford’s path in education began at Spelman College, where she earned her degree in Mathematics. She went on to receive advanced degrees in Mathematics Education from Georgia State University and Columbia University. Her professional credentials include certifications in elementary education, middle grades mathematics, 7–12 mathematics, educational leadership, instructional supervision, and gifted education.

A passionate advocate for academic excellence, Dr. Jones Ford has dedicated her career to inspiring students and shaping the future of education. This honor not only celebrates her decades of service but also elevates her as a national symbol of educational excellence and dedication.
