Tami Roman Inducted as Honorary Member of Sigma Gamma Rho

Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. has inducted actress and producer Tami Roman as an Honorary Member. The sorority announced the induction today, Friday, July 24, 2026, during its 61st Biennial Boule in Tampa, Florida.

Tami Roman first entered the public eye as a cast member on The Real World: Los Angeles in 1993, one of the earliest seasons of the reality television format. She went on to become a breakout star of VH1’s Basketball Wives, appearing on the series across its run from 2010 to 2019 and becoming one of the most recognizable figures in the genre.

In recent years, Roman has moved into scripted television as both an actress and a producer. She has taken on roles in series including The Family Business and the drama Haus of Vicious, on which she also serves as an executive producer, building a second career behind and in front of the camera.

Beyond the screen, Roman has spoken openly on national platforms about living with body dysmorphic disorder, childhood trauma, and long-term mental health challenges, conversations that have contributed to greater public understanding and the destigmatization of mental illness, particularly for Black women.

Roman was inducted as part of Sigma Gamma Rho’s Honorary Membership Class of 2026, a group of women recognized during the 2026 Boule Honorary Membership Ceremony for achievements spanning sports, entertainment, education, public service, advocacy, entrepreneurship, and global humanitarian work.

The ceremony took place as Sigma Gamma Rho gathered in Tampa, Florida, for its 61st Biennial Boule under International President Marica T. Harris. In announcing the class, Harris said the 2026 honorees “embody the spirit of service, the power of purpose,” carrying forward the sorority’s mission of Greater Service, Greater Progress.
