Civil Rights Advocate Priscilla Till Inducted as Honorary Member of Sigma Gamma Rho

Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. has inducted educator and civil rights advocate Priscilla Till as an Honorary Member. The sorority announced the induction today, Friday, July 24, 2026, during its 61st Biennial Boule in Tampa, Florida.

Priscilla Till, also known as Priscilla Williams-Till, is a cousin of Emmett Till, the 14-year-old whose 1955 murder in Mississippi helped galvanize the modern civil rights movement. A Jackson, Mississippi native and an educator, she holds degrees from Jackson State University and Belhaven University.

Williams-Till is the founder of the Emmett Till Justice for Families Foundation, an organization that advocates for federal accountability in hate crimes and racial justice cases. Her work centers on coalition-building and structural justice, and her public record emphasizes bridge-building across communities rather than single-issue advocacy.

In 2025, Williams-Till expanded that mission into the political arena, launching a campaign for the United States Senate in Mississippi’s 2026 election on a platform focused on civil rights protections and social justice. Whatever the outcome, her candidacy extended a family legacy of pressing the nation toward justice.

Williams-Till was inducted as part of Sigma Gamma Rho’s Honorary Membership Class of 2026, a group of women recognized during the 2026 Boule Honorary Membership Ceremony for achievements spanning sports, entertainment, education, public service, advocacy, entrepreneurship, and global humanitarian work.

The ceremony took place as Sigma Gamma Rho gathered in Tampa, Florida, for its 61st Biennial Boule under International President Marica T. Harris. In announcing the class, Harris said the 2026 honorees “embody the spirit of service, the power of purpose,” carrying forward the sorority’s mission of Greater Service, Greater Progress.
