VOICES OF THE VINEYARD

Are you planning on being at Martha’s Vineyard on August 13th? If so, we have an event you will not want to miss.

Watch The Yard is proud to come on board as media sponsor for “Voices of the Vineyard,” a moderated conversation celebrating the communities of color who make up Martha’s Vineyard year-round and the ways they are sharing their stories.

Presented by URL Media and The Martha’s Vineyard Times, this free gathering happens Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at The Martha’s Vineyard Times’ waterfront offices on the island.

At the heart of the afternoon is a fireside chat featuring some of Martha’s Vineyard’s most dynamic women leaders, the ones defining, uplifting, and fortifying the legacies that hold the island’s communities together. Confirmed panelists include Nia Rhodes Jackson, a member of The Cottagers, Inc., the historic 501(c)(3) charitable organization formed by African-American women homeowners on Martha’s Vineyard; Julianne Vanderhoop, owner of Orange Peel Bakery and a member of the Wampanoag community; and Elaine Cawley Weintraub, co-founder of the African American Heritage Trail on Martha’s Vineyard.

The conversation will be moderated by Sharisse Scott-Rawlins, writer and curator of Voices by Sharisse x Martha’s Vineyard Times.

Expect an honest, warm conversation about the rich history and evolving diversity of the island’s year-round communities, the people who have shaped them, and the work of keeping those stories in front of the next generation.

Admission is free, but registration is required and space is limited, so do not wait to claim your seat. Reserve your spot by clicking HERE TO RSVP.

If you are on the island this summer, come be part of the conversation. Share this article with your network and we will see you on the Vineyard.
