Let’s face it, there is a very good chance that your undergrad degree has put you in a lot of debt and the only reason you are not thinking about continuing your education and getting a masters or even a PhD is because you are scared about owing Sallie Mae even more money.

But what if you thought outside the box? Did you know that you can get an internationally accredited masters degree outside of the US and do it all in english? It is true, most countries outside of the United States don’t cripple their brightest and best with heavy debt and in comparison to US standards basically offer educations to anyone who can get into their programs for free.

Singapore

Singapore National University is ranked at number 30 in the world, and tuition is only around $4,000 a year for international graduate students. If you are interested in doing asian studies or business this may be the place for you to think about grad school. Singapore offers a melting pot of Asian cultures, a high quality graduate education, affordable living costs.

South Africa

Cape Town and Johannesburg have some of the most recognized universities in the world, and tuition for international graduate students is only around $4,000 a year . Add to this the fact that the cost of living in South Africa affords grad students a much greater degree of luxury than they would experience in Europe or the U.S. and you might start thinking about taking your talents to the motherland.

Sweden

Graduate school is basically free in Sweden outside of a few application fees here and there. Check out the Uppsala University website. They have a great catalog of Master’s programs in English, and  some great PhD programs.

Germany

Germany has some well-ranked universities that come in at around 100-500 Euros a year for tuition. German language skills are required for some schools; others, such as the University of Berlin, offer a selection of degrees in English.

Mexico

Tuition is only around $1,000 USD a year, at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (Universidad Autonoma de Mexico) and they are one of the top ranking universities in Latin America right next to Argentina’s University of Buenos Aires.

For those interested in Latin American studies and history, the program recently initiated here is one of the best in the world. Mexico City is one of the biggest cities in the world, so if that is too much for you to handle, you can try Puebla, Monterrey, or one of the CIESAS research institutes located throughout the country, all of which offer quality graduate degrees at prices comparable to that of UNAM.
