Alpha Phi Alpha’s Jerome Dotson Jr. Becomes a Two-Time AlphaPreneur Champion, Securing $23,000 in Total Prizes

Jerome Dotson Jr., a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and the founder of the music-tech platform Musicade, has won the fraternity’s AlphaPreneur Competition for a second consecutive time, taking first place at both the General Convention and the Southern Region’s Alpha South Pitch Competition.

Dotson, a 2015 initiate of the Nu Rho Chapter in Chicago, is a Dallas-based product strategist and creative director who spent eight-plus years at PwC in management consulting and product management before founding Musicade. He also serves as Head of Brand at MODULA, a Grammy Award-winning music production company.

At the General Convention, Musicade was chosen from among five finalists after a live pitch before a panel of venture capitalists, tech investors, startup operators and a Macy’s executive, earning the $20,000 grand prize. At the Alpha South Pitch Competition, hosted at the Raleigh Convention Center, his pitch placed first among eight competing businesses and took home a $3,000 prize. That competition was sponsored by PNC Bank and presented in partnership with NC IDEA, The Tulsa Initiative and Operation Alpha South.

Musicade brings ticketing, gig booking, collaboration and event tools into a single platform for the artists, DJs, photographers and event producers who power live music. The company has activated local scenes in Dallas, Washington, D.C., and Chicago, and Dotson is now raising capital to expand into new markets.

“Winning back-to-back is validation, but the real work is ahead of us,” Dotson said. “We’re building something that lets the culture own the platform it creates.”

Dotson was also featured in the Spring 2026 Entrepreneurship Issue of The Sphinx, the official publication of Alpha Phi Alpha, under the headline “Building the Infrastructure Behind Culture.” Through his “Take Back the Culture” initiative, he has advocated for creatives owning more of the work the industry profits from.

His back-to-back wins carry forward the fraternity’s aim of manly deeds, scholarship and love for all mankind.
