Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorors Pack 150 Hunger Relief Bags in Saint Louis

Members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. packed approximately 150 food bags for local elementary school students on March 5th. The Beta Delta Chapter partnered with their sponsoring graduate chapter, Gamma Omega Graduate Chapter, to carry out this service initiative as part of the sorority’s Childhood Hunger Initiative Power Pack program, known as AKA CHIPP™.

Designed to address childhood hunger, the CHIPP program provides free, non-perishable meals and snacks to elementary school students—especially during weekends and holidays when school meals are unavailable. During the event, chapter members assembled power packs filled with easy-to-prepare, shelf-stable items that children can take home, helping to bridge the gap when school nutrition programs are out of reach.

Three Beta Delta members participated in the packing effort, serving children across local St. Louis communities. The 150 bags prepared will provide critical weekend nutrition support for students who rely on school meals during the week.

“CHIPP demonstrates our commitment to serving our communities by making sure no child goes hungry when school doors close,” said Kyla McReynolds, President of the Beta Delta Chapter.

Through its continued involvement in CHIPP, the chapter is helping meet an ongoing need in St. Louis, where many families face food insecurity, while ensuring consistent support for children throughout the academic year.
